China To Give Pakistan Trainer Aircraft

China has agreed to provide four trainer aircraft to the Pakistan Air Force and 60 million yuan ($9 million) for training the country’s armed forces.
An agreement to this effect was signed Monday by Pakistani Defence Minister Ahmad Mukhtar and his Chinese counterpart Gen. Liang Guangile, Online news agency reported.
Earlier, a 17-member defence delegation led by Liang called on Mukhtar and exchanged views on bilateral defence cooperation, the strategic situation in the region and Pakistan’s anti-terror efforts.
Both sides agreed to further increase military cooperation and strategic communication at all levels to overcome the challenges being confronted by the two countries.
It was also decided to hold joint exercises to promote and increase interaction and ensure closer collaboration between the armed forces of the two countries, by the three forces of the two countries.
Liang assured his counterpart that China would continue to provide military and economic assistance to Pakistan so as to make it a stronger and prosperous country. He assured that his country would continue to support Pakistan’s stance on different issues at every international forum.
Appreciating the unflinching support provided by China to Pakistan, Mukhtar said Pakistan was highly indebted to China for supporting Pakistan in difficult times and specially its role in developing and strengthening the defence sector. source

The renowned Islamic scholar and thinker Dr. Israr Ahmad (Bani e Tanzeem e Islam) passed away last night making us all very sad (Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Elyhi Rajion). His Nimaz-e-Janaza will be offered today after Asar prayer in at Central Park, Model Town, Lahore. JF-Thunder Fighter Jet Ready To Take Off – Pakistan

A new JF-17 Thunder fighter plane, first of its kind made in Pakistan, is unveiled at the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex in Kamra, some 60 kilometers northwest of the Pakistani capital Islamabad, Nov. 23, 2009. JF-17 is a kind of advanced multi-role jet fighter jointly invested and developed by China and Pakistan.

The Pakistan Air Force has so far received eight JF-17 jets from China that are being used for testing and evaluation. The PAF plans to raise its first squadron of JF-17 jets by the end of this year.

SIM Information System By Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA)

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has developed a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) information system to address associated risks on security and to ensure subscription regulations in cellular sector.

The objective of the project is to provide a consumer-based facility to mobile subscribers in Pakistan by which they would be able to find out the total number of SIM(s) registered against their respective CNIC number with each mobile operator.

Pakistan Enters Largest Deal To Export Machinery

KARACHI: A plant is being exported under an agreement worth $50 million — the first largest in the history of Pakistan, Geo News reported Saturday.
Talking to Geo News, partner of Saudi al Kubra group, Majeed Pardesi said his Saudi partners were inclined on importing machinery from India; however, they preferred the import from Pakistan.
Pardesi said an upfront payment of $50 million has been made to Heavy Mechanical Complex in view of the prevalent situation in the country, adding the 80 percent work for the machinery export has been completed.
The other parts of the plant will soon be sent to Ethiopia, he added.

Verify National Identity Cards (CNIC) Through SMS

National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has signed contract with cellphone companies, including Mobilink, Telenor Pakistan and Warid Tel, for verification of the computerized national identity cards (CNICs) through SMS.
Nadra has initiated the facility under which people can attain the verification of CNIC through SMS. Subscribers will have the facility to verify the CNIC by sending SMS at 7000. In first phase, Mobilink, Telenor Pakistan and Warid Tel were included in the facility, while negotiations with two more companies, Ufone and Zong, are in progress.
The agreement was signed in an impressive ceremony held at Nadra headquarters, which was attended by senior officials of Nadra and mobile phone companies. Bilal Shiekh of Mobilink, Aamir Ibrahim of Telenor Pakistan and Syed Babar Ahmed of Warid Tel signed on behalf of their companies, while Chief Administrative Officer Brigadier Kamal Aziz (Retd) represented Nadra.
This unique facility is devised for the convenience of general public, which can be utilised by any person desirous to verify credentials of the person with whom they are making business deals or they can verify the CNIC submitted by their employees, household workers and maids.
Nadra took this initiative due to prevailing law and order situation and to curb the menace of identity theft. Brigadier Kamal Aziz (Retd), in his address, said that verification would be done in real time communication with Nadra’s National Data Warehouse, using Nadra and mobile phone companies strong network infrastructure.
He said, the CNIC number, which needed to be verified, would be sent through SMS at special number “7000″, and in response, Nadra would provide details associated with that CNIC such as name of the person to whom the CNIC allotted in Urdu along with his father’s name and in case of a married women her husband’s name, or subsequently any other content.
Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik formally opened the service of verification of CNIC through SMS on July 24. This service will enable the police and other law-enforcement agencies to verify the CNIC of any suspect at checkpoint any time, besides help common people to avoid the bids of cheating by mischievous people as they can verify the CNIC of any person on SMS.
The CNIC verification would be CNIC number (which is to be verified) on special numbers “7000″ for general public and “7001″ for the law-enforcement agencies. In response, Nadra will provide the details associated with that CNIC such as the name of person to whom that CNIC Number stands allotted (in Urdu) along with any other content deemed appropriate by Nadra pertaining to the CNIC at nominal charges of Rs 10+tax.

Afridi’s Shirt At Lord’s Museum

Lord’s cricket museum, the world’s oldest sporting museum commonly known as Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Museum is displaying Shahid Afridi’s shirt. Afridi who played a very vital role in Pakistan’s victory in T20 world cup in England, have many world records with his name. Afridi said “he is extremely proud that the shirt he wore in the ICC World Twenty20 final against Sri Lanka will be placed in the world-famed cricket museum at Lord’s”.
Museum contains rare article used by many great crickers including a sparrow which was killed by a stroke from the bat from Jahangir Khan, father of former Pakistan captain Majid Khan, has also been preserved in this museum. Other than this articles used by Sir Donald Bradman, Brian Lara, Shane Warne and Sachin Tendulkar have also been kept in the museum of Lord’s.
