250MW Power Unit Dedicated To Textile Mills

Pakistan_Textile_IndustryISLAMABAD: A power unit of 250 megawatts is being installed in Faisalabad to provide uninterrupted power supply to the textile industry, which will be operational by the end of the current month.
This was stated by the Federal Minister for Textile Industry Rana Muhammad Farooq Saeed Khan while chairing a meeting regarding energy issues of the textile sector here on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the overall situation of the textile sector and the problems faced by it due to energy crisis came under discussion.
The participants expressed deep concern over high tariffs and said that special tariffs should be introduced for the textile sector. They also apprised the federal minister about bank-related matters in detail and BT cotton and R&D-related matters were also discussed.
Participants gave different proposals and suggestions to help overcome different crisis faced by the textile sector. They mentioned that our economy mainly depends on the textile sector. Therefore, the government has to take concrete steps in this regard.
Federal minister for the textile industry said that textile is the most important sector of our economy and the government is committed to resolving all textile-related issues on priority basis because it is our export oriented sector. He said that the concerns of participants, along with their proposals and suggestions are most valuable, which is why all possible remedial measures would be taken in this regard.
Maximum relief will be provided to the textile sector, he said, adding that different meetings with NEPRA, WAPDA, OGRA, SBP and Federal Minister for Food would be arranged to settle maximum issues.

Pakistan Defeated England Despite Partial Umpiring

Pak-HockeyLAHORE: The national hockey team returned home after bagging great victory of test series against England, Geo News reported Sunday. National team Coach Shahid Ali Khan said despite partial umpiring, Pakistan defeated England at their home ground. The national hockey team including 17 players, three officials including Coach Shahid Ali, arrived home in Lahore this morning by Pakistan International Airlines. While, Goalkeeper Salman Akbar and Asif Bajwah did not accompany the team from London. Talking to media at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Shahid Ali said the team played very well, adding the combination of junior and senior players turned out very good. The future of hockey is bright in Pakistan, he added. Captain Zeeshan Ashraf Pakistan Hockey Federation should hold matches with strong teams of Holland and Germany, so that the fitness and game of the players could be enhanced.

Obama – A Fan Of Great Urdu Poets

obama-pakistanPakistan has a very rich and beautiful culture. Its Food, Music, Languages, poetry and loving people. This is the reason that Pakistani culture always leaves a magical impact on the people having an interaction with it. This is the reason why i was not surprised at all to hear US President Barack Obama’s remarks about Pakistani culture in recent interview with Dawn newspaper. Interview covered a wide range of issues, but i would be including a subset of it in my post.

While answering to the question

“Any plan to visit Pakistan in the near future?
He said ‘I would love to visit. As you know, I had Pakistani roommates in college who were very close friends of mine. I went to visit them when I was still in college; was in Karachi and went to Hyderabad. Their mothers taught me to cook’
‘What can you cook?’
‘Oh, keema … daal … You name it, I can cook it. And so I have a great affinity for Pakistani culture and the great Urdu poets.’
‘You read Urdu poetry?’
‘Absolutely. So my hope is that I’m going to have an opportunity at some point to visit Pakistan,’ said Mr Obama.

Alam Lohar – A Legend Folk Singer Of Pakistan

alam loharA very bright and shining  name in the sky of folk music of Pakistan is the name of Alam Lohar. The legend folk singer of Pakistan was Born in District Gujrat. Alam Lohar was gifted with a melodious voice. He started signing in very early age and recorded his first album at the age of 13. He became very famous in his childhood. He was famous for his unique style of signing specially Waris Shah’s “Heer”. He used  “The Chimta” as a musical instrument. Alam Lohar was the inventor of the classic folk song “Jugni”. Alam Lohar died in a road accident of 3rd of July 1979. His son “Arif Lohar” is also very famous singer. He also remixed his father’s invention “Jugni” which was also very successful in remix version.
